AT A GLANCE
Serving the Rockwall area since 2017, The Ridge Counseling Center provides professional counseling services for individuals and families in need.
Counseling allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
MARRIAGE COUNSELING & Relationship Counseling
Any couple can benefit from couples therapy, even happy ones. Couples therapy is not the last stop on the road to divorce or separation, as many think. While it can serve as intervention during a time of crisis, it can also be a great way to deepen and enhance a connection and serve as a preventative measure against future difficulties. Couples therapy is also a good option for families dealing with mental illness in one member of the couple, giving the partner the tools he or she needs to support their partner.
CHILD COUNSELING/PLAY THERAPY
Play therapy is a form of treatment that helps children and families to express their emotions, improve their communication, and solve problems. Play therapy capitalizes on children’s natural ability to express their feelings and resolve conflicts through play. Play therapists use various media, including storytelling, puppet play, drama, music, dance, sand play, painting and drawing, and board games. Play therapy is most appropriate for children ages 4-12 years of age, or with families with children that age.
Online therapy can be a solution for clients who live in remote areas. Clients do not have to travel great distances (or lose a whole day) every time they have a session. It is also ideal for those with a physical condition that limits mobility or who do not have adequate transportation.
Family has a powerful influence over our behavior and mental state, for better or worse. They are the source of both joy and heartache. At times they give us support and other moments they contribute to our problems. Sometimes we just don’t get along. Family therapy is generally short-term and focuses on specific goals. It explores the patterns, conflicts, and ways of communicating in your family system. Family therapy may benefit you and your family by
improving communication skills; providing skills for coping with challenging situations; offering new insight and understanding; identifying problem areas within the family; providing strategies for handling conflict; improving and strengthening relationships
